Safety committees

Since the IBT now approves of 70 hr work weeks, shouldn't they reinstate the safety committees?

HAHAHA.....safety committees...our shady ass center takes the majority of the hours designated for safety and uses them to take a driver off the books. They convinced one of the air shuttle drivers to join the committee and then the majority of his hours each day are coded out as safety, even though he is delivering or picking up misloads etc. On top of that, the two On Road supervisors use the money designated for safety and routinely buy lunch for the office staff and turn in their receipts as safety/wellness related.

We recently had a safety committee guy go down on the road with a heat related illness.
Two postal workers died this summer. One in her (white) truck and the other one carrying mail door to door...at 46 yrs old. Left behind at least one child and his wife.

Depends how your strong your local is. Some CHSPs are Managment appointed cause the BA doesn't care and other locals choose to disassociate with CHSP cause they see the hypocrisy.
