"60 Minutes" did a segment on AR-15 ammo. It's designed to break up inside a body to do the maximum amount of damage. If someone shoots into a crowd with standard ammo unless they hit a vital organ the victims are likely to live. But those same victims shot into otherwise non-lethal areas of their body are much more likely to die from AR-15 ammo.

No, saw the lab results testing it. And remember reading an article about what the ammo did many years ago when they first started selling AR-15's. I'm 100% for the 2nd Amendment. But don't think they should have ever let these weapons into the general population. Would love to see just police have them to fight drug dealers.

I thought that’s what hollow points were made to do.
They are designed to expand. Fragmentation is a possible byproduct should it contact something hard but not necessarily the case. And his report in question is alleging this property to "AR-15 ammo".

You can't state that you're 100% for the 2nd amendment then immediately say that only the police should have these rifles and that they don't belong in the hands of citizens.

They also hit the body at a much higher velocity. A clean entry hole on one side, an exploded mess exit wound on the other.

It will be fine

Really? So you support RPGs for civilian use? Apache helicopters with the full compliment of weapons? There’s no line you would draw?

Yes I can. I just did. I don't want to see the right to defend ourselves with guns taken away. But there are guns then there are guns.

Military ammo is not allowed to expand like hollow point hunting bullets because of Geneva Convention so are LESS lethal than civilian ammo. The military got around that the best way possible by having the bullets barely stabilized in flight, so they tumble on impact causing more damage as they pass through a body.

I'm not up on the technical aspects of it all, but I saw on the "60 Minutes" segment what happened when AR-15 ammo hits a body in comparison to normal ammo. The difference is startling.
