Should a New Employee worry about Possible Strike?

DELACROIX

In the Spirit of Honore' Daumier
He is no longer president of a Union local (25) in union strong Boston-----he is the president of one of the largest, if not the largest, labor unions in the world, much of which is not nearly as union strong. As such, he needs to conduct himself in a more "Hoffa like" manner while maintaining his own principles and steadfast desire to put the members first. In other words, he needs to learn how to play the game without changing the rules along the way. I would have to think that he would become more personally involved in the contract negotiations the closer we get to 8/1. Coming in swinging is not going to help anyone. Carol may be new to UPS but she is not new to the corporate world. She trimmed the fat at Home Depot and will continue to do the same here.

Please define: “Hoffa Like Manner”?

Carol has been trimming the fat (consolation of regions and districts)…(eliminating further vesting rights and reducing monetary contributions into the UPS Retirement Plan(s) for management.

First rodeo for both Sean and Carol…no concrete issue to go on strike for.. unlike the 1997 pension takeover.

And more "thoughts" from the peanut gallery.

Dave, your opinions have always been askew with reality.

You certainly have the right to an opinion.... but, have been consistently wrong over the years.

Really ?

Who do you think is running the show ?

Wow.
Clearly, he’s not paying attention. At all. SMH

The negotiating committee.

Certainly not you-----my former co-work W has you pegged. All talk, no action.
L O L we haven’t had a president of the international this involved with negotiations in decades, you’re out of your league here and have no idea what you’re talking about. Go back to playing shuffleboard at Shady acres.

They both were looking for a fight----Sean was the only one who took the bait.
You mean he put that stooge in his place? Interesting which side you take. You mean to tell me that Markwyane didn’t tell our president, He needs to get his facts straight when he told him Feeder Drivers made 35k a year? The guy was a liar and a clown and you’re defending, says a lot.

Notice how the ones who aren’t affected have the loudest voices.

And notice how the ones who aren't affected want to strike the Company over issues that do not affect them?

While I agree, there are some on here that will look out for the the little guy, or the new guy, the majority are just looking for an excuse to strike and "teach" the Company a lesson.

Most of the issues don't affect them, but they will stand behind those issues just to strike even though they could care less about the new guy.

Worry about the strike........maybe. But since you are coming in as a feeder driver you will be full-time. you will be guaranteeed 40 hours a week, even if it's not driving. Part timers will be paid off before you.
