So about that part time wage increase

What makes the most sense is for people doing the same job to make the same amount of money. Right?

You may have a point but you can't just start that now.

We've put in the time and have earned the orogression promised in the last contract. The GWI is to increase wages of people that have put in the time with the company.

I've been here almost 6 years and am just over $14. If this contract goes through, I'll soon be working by hybrid drivers, who've not been hear as long, making $20+/hr.
However you can use your seniority to sign for the higher paying job. You are not a victim if you don’t help yourself.

You're right Daf. I'm a bit bitter on that one though because there's a few people above me that don't want to drive or failed to qualify that apply for every job posted.

If this next contract passes the way it is, I'll definitely apply to be a driver. They're screwing over part timers badly and I won't accept it

I think the argument that you got screwed so everyone else after you should get screwed too is silly. I get that it sucks, but what's right is right.

This progression crap just divides us.

Ya there's a difference between progression and GWI though. They also don't give a GWI to new hires under new contracts so no raises for 5 years if you don't earn progression. It's just something that should be there

Part time full scale after a 2-3 year progression......just like I've been saying for a year lol

Thank you. That honestly makes the most sense and then preloaders would already be making top rate in addition to the GWI. The company seems to purposely over complicate it, in order to cut wages

Most part timers would still leave before a years up and guys that stick around would be rewarded like they should be.

If I make 13 right now and am due for a raise for 13.50 in October. How is this raise going to affect me?
Someone correct me if im wrong but you will be at $13 + probably like 75 cents GWI. UNLESS the contract is voted down and takes another 6 months to agree. Then you will recieve your 50 cent raise under the current contract and then the 75 cents GWI on top of that when the new contract is agreed on next year.

You better sign up to be a driver now because if this contract passes They are only going to be hiring hybrid drivers for the foreseeable future.

If they increase the starting wage to 15.50 and you've accumulated 6 dollars in GWI you should make 21.50. Doesn't that make sense?
To what end? Should the part-timers who have been here forever and are making over $30 also get a $3 raise or just people at your wage level? Because no matter where you cut it off someone is going to be mad.

What about people who make 11.50 right now and have been here for a year, Do they get the GWI as well?

I feel like if you get bumped to 13 you shouldn't get the GWI

What they have done for the past 2 contracts that I was part time for was that anyone who had their seniority when the contract was ratified automatically went into the GWI and bypassed the rest of the part time progression. And if you were getting paid less than the new starting wage then you got that bump as well. You increase your pay at a higher rate than a new hire but it still does not make up for the time you put in to get there.

The only people I know that make that much are 22.3 and aren't part time. I also don't see why not. It takes a pretty long time to reach 30 an hour as a preloader part time. Like 20 some years

You must work in a very small building not to have any red circle PT making almost $36/hr.
