Strike in Chicago?

Union membership is declining due to the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to China amd Mexico. The slow, cancerous growth of "right-to-work" states hasnt helped either. Neither has NAFTA. Our government, and the big corporations that have bought and paid for it, havent exactly been what you could call pro-union for at least 30 years.
Cancerous growth?

They would be holding up the master right now if they had a supplement instead of a separate contract, but that wouldn't change Tieguy’s argument. He would be saying they want better than everyone else’s supplement, instead of they want better than everyone else’s NMA.

No hardhead grasping for frivolous straws they would have been grandstanding the same time pa and 804 were instead of starting their own selfish revolution after everyone else is done. Your arguments are so weak.

Meanwhile at 710 headquarters winds picking up as painters struggle to keep flying debris from sticking to fresh paint. Now back to your favorite soap opera at good ole 705

That is because our contract didnt expire and had 8 months left for negotiations. If they were part of the NM, it wouldnt be done.

You few company hater are so desperate for some type of defense that you're now moving into the rediculous. 705 would have been doing their thing the same time 804 was pouting and blaming the company for their own mismanagement of their own pension plan. All would be settled by now so the rest of the country does not have to worry about 705 grandstanding as they are now.

If you ask me, 705 and 710 didn't ask for special negotiations, the intl left them behind to fend for themselves. If hoffa hadn't been so afraid of losing the CS pension under the new federal laws, then everyone, 705/710 included, would be voting for a strike authorization right now. Hoffa enticed everyone to start negotiations early. The contract didn't need to be done 1 year early except to sell the pension to UPS.

HO HO HO santa you're full of crap again. Jimmy Hoffa the first tried to make them part of the intl but they told him they wanted to keep their "I am special look at me" negotiations.

I moved out because my ex-wifes divorce attorney told me I had to. When she sold the place, it was on the market for 45 minutes and got full asking price. There are no empty houses there now....but they are adding a second phase to the development and people are already lining up to buy.

I'm sorry Sober union membership is decling because unions are out of touch with their members. If joining a union was attractive then many would do so.

Next you will say that it was 705 that made him vanish. I only know of hoffa sr from what i have read and seen on tv, since i was born in the early 70s. I was not there for this discussion but if im correct jimmy had alot of power when he was in. Do you know who told jimmy to friend off were not joining?

What do you call 900 more employees showing up for our strike vote last sunday than in 97? I call that being in touch with your members! Keeping them informed! Knowing that your job is to represent us! Sounds like our union is doing a pretty good job at least by the turnout of the infromed members!

Well, according to the US Bureau of Labor and Industries, the average annual wage in a right-to-work state is a whopping $7,131.00 less than in closed-shop states.
Among the top 10 states in terms of average wages, only 1 of them is right-to-work.
Among the bottom 25 states in terms of average wages, 18 of them are right-to-work.
The 6 states with the lowest average wages are all right-to-work!!!
The workplace mortality rate is...get this...41% higher in right-to-work states.
9 out of the 10 states in terms of infant mortality are right-to-work.
ALL of the states that allowed slavery and segregation are right-to-work.

People who quote statisitics to prove their point should also get a clue.

Thanks for the history lesson but what does that have to do with what I posted?

You said the chicago locals did not ask for seperate negotiations. I'm telling you the insisted on it and rejected efforts to have them join the nma. Why do I have to explain this to you? Don't you friggin teamsters know your own history?

Tie,
Just goes to show you what a mastermind and a genius Ron was when he ran out local. His shoes were a little too big to fill for fatty. Ever hear the expression "You never knew how good you had it till its gone?"

I agree, people who post irrelevant statistics should get a clue.
Slavery ended almost 150 yrs ago in this country.
Many closed shop states had slavery at one time, also.
The founding Fathers of our country were slave owners.
So what.
Where is the cancerous growth of right to work states?
The real cancer you should concern yourself with is the declining numbers of union membership and that statistic is not due to right to work states.
