student debt

Why should people people pay back money they chose to borrow like they legally agreed to?

Do you really not know the answer to this question?

SMH

Why should they be paying a ridiculous amount for schooling in a country that’s considered first world? I know people who are still paying it off and they’re in their 30s.

they need to teach kids the value of protesting

Politics is a game of fear 101
What would they protest? their own naïveté in taking loans out they should not have? The same people you say should fix it, are the ones that broke it. the government guaranteed these loans and now it is no longer a free market, the schools don’t have to worry about giving a good education at a reasonable price because they’re going to get paid no matter what.

That's a deflection.
Whether you think it should be free now is irrelevant to their decision to borrow money when they knew it wasn't free.

It’s to the point you’ll need a degree to work at McDonald’s. So you’re being forced to take out a loan.

You only have to take the loan out if you play their game, people stop doing it they will have to change. My son started college did not like it, he’s getting ready start with the elevator union. Their top scale is over $50 an hour after his apprenticeship. No degree required.

That’s the way to go. I’m not against education and going to college. Needs to be cheaper.

I have no problem with education either, but it Has to be A return on investment that makes sense. And it won’t be as long as the government guarantees the loans for the schools, and the banks, and they will just keep raising the price because they don’t have to worry about it . The only people left on the hook are the ones that took them out no matter how silly they were doing it.

No they didn’t you’d be surprised how many people don’t know how it works. Once again why am I borrowing money to get educated?
Poor parenting, and poor education as well as walking around with your eyes closed and being a victim and a sheep. We spent the last 30 years telling kids you can be whatever you want even if it doesn’t make financial sense and here we are. Now you’re an awful person if you tell someone you shouldn’t go to a school that cost 80 to 100 K for gender studies.

McDonald's isn't hiring college grads lol. The universities keep upping their costs because money to pay for it is easy to obtain. But those going to college should've figured out a long time ago that there was no guarantee of a high paying job waiting for them upon graduation. Called doing your due diligence. Economics 101. You can't go from a manufacturing economy to a service economy and expect to have as many well paid opportunities as before. This has devastated our middle class. However if they choose to get training in a trade, get their hands dirty, there still is some opportunity out there. Might mean they won't be able to rub shoulders with the elites.

If you ain’t going to college for business it’s pointless in my opinion.

Devastating the middle class is exactly what they wanted.

They don’t teach us about taxes and loans in school for a reason.

The point im making is even for basic jobs they want at least some college experience. Going to college isn’t really indication of anything. Ton of idiots with degrees. I’d take a trade and learning on the job all day over schooling.

Kill the unions by moving manufacturing overseas. Then take out as many high paying middle management jobs as possible. Next is AI and automation that will eliminate both white and blue collar jobs. Import millions of people who'll compete for the remaining manual labor jobs and keep pay low. And sooner or later we'll have a huge societal upheaval. People fall for "Trump is this, Trump is that" and don't realize he was the one president we've had trying to prevent this stuff.
