Last mile delivery has become a liquid business model. I think trust no longer plays a role, people are used to getting stuff within 24 hours or less. If UPS and the Teamsters can’t adapt together, they may both go down.

Yeah if I order something from best buy. The local store has it in stock. Why can't a guy bring it straight to me? Why does some UPS driver have to pick it up. Take it to have some meth head unload. Put in a retaining trailer. Unloaded the next day. Reloaded in a DELV trailer. Unloaded again then loaded in a ups truck. Then delivered at 8pm 3 days later? All that versus some dude delivering it to me 2 hours after I ordered it.

UPS needs a UpsLocal. Everything else that comes from far away state will need regular UPS.

Local Union autonomy.

Those members need to be asking their Local why they never negotiated that benefit.
Well that’s the problem. Most of our members for one reason or another only look at the short term money. Still think it should be a given to negotiate for that, especially seeing other locals doing it.

Hmmm, why do you think they company wants to get rid of drivers? Doesn't a trucking company need drivers??

There's only one reason I can see. It's because they want to go to a independent contractor model.

This is bad.
Not sure if it’s that, but it certainly isn’t good. I agree. Carol is running this company into the ground.
