Do you believe there is a “Great Re-set” going on now?

Not that simple. HOA's tell you how to live. You would have to kill me to live in one again.

Hey Cletus you can’t use your confederate flag as window draping and we don’t allow beer can wind chimes here. Please get with the program.

Cletus:1776!!!! Never again!!

Yes it is better than renting but it is not exactly owning it’s something in between because even after you’ve paid it off your dues are due every month. I’m sure they’re different everywhere but some of them are quite costly my dad’s was $330 a month
I know of RV park spaces for that....NOT including utilities(per month)......put's it in perspective some. And that's from the crappiest pop-up camper to a $500k motorhome.

I honestly appreciate third parties intervening and settling arguments with rules we all agree to live by. I like social contracts that maintain order.

Inordinately Right
Because renting is just money going straight into a landlord’s pocket. At least my “rent” money would go into my condo’s mortgage or whatever it’s called.

Correct?
Hell I’d be fine with renting over owning a condo if someone made the argument that it is me getting less screwed.
You'd just need to run the numbers on it man.
If you're looking at 300-400 in condo fees, 700-800 interest on your loan, 500-600 in insurance every year. Then add property tax on top.....

You still need to go to the board meetings and make sure you're watching what they do with your money, and they're managing the property and reserves right. Get a few bad leaders in there for a while, and they're not setting aside enough for the new roof that they know it's going to need. Then they're hitting you up with a special assessment and adding another hundred or so to your cost every month.

You sound like you just want an easy experience for a small place and I'm not sure that's the best way. Rent is actually pretty affordable compared to ownership around here.

No. He's my friends Dad. 90 yo. They are transferable to heirs btw.
They are transferable correct but good luck finding anyone that will take them. I was the executor of my grandparents estate and I had three of them to give to any family members that just wanted to take them over they were completely paid off all you had to pay were the dues for the rest of your life no one wanted them.

Yep. And you could have let them go too.....with consequences.....your grandparents knew this too....probably.

Sure....except the investment of your GP's. No matter. I see.
Well I mean they were dead so I couldn’t really do much about that. I would say we did get enjoyment out of them because I got to use them as well from time to time when I visited. But after the family saw what happened with the one timesshare no one wanted to take a lifetime worth of chance at getting screwed owning one of these timeshares.
