They are protected because they are teamsters, not because they are queer. It wouldn't work any other way. The great thing about the union is that it levels the playing field for all of us. If UPS was allowed to treat queer teamsters worse than heterosexual teamsters, UPS would be trying to only hire queer folks. Is that what you want?
