Tier 1 Hub

Anybody seen a Tier 1 Hub yet? I think there is one operating somewhere in Kentucky.

I heard it can unload a 53 foot trailer in 9 minutes with no unloaders.

It raises the trailer and "dumps" the packages out.

Is there some new technology that keeps the from just tumbling out and smashing? That seems like it would have to create a lot of claims. Maybe they slide out? Rather than just fall off the tailgate?

But yet Package Car can't get out of the building before 9:30?

Are trailers only going to be half loaded? That is a long drop down for those on top. The automated hub need them spaced properly. This has no sense of that. More jams? What about hazmats and irregs? Seems like only one door can be operated at a time, in that video, or that belt at the end will be overloaded.

Years ago, i made this joke ..."ups will have trailers that just back in, lift and dump everything out onto a huge 50 foot wide belt". co-workers response, "don't give them any ideas" :D
