UAW strike!

Do what yall have to do. Screw that.
(But the job is not what it used to be, thanks to the market growth of foreign-based automakers like Toyota and Honda, paired with givebacks the UAW made to help stabilize the Big 3 in the wake of the financial crisis of 2007 and 2008. That included the creation of a “tiered” system in which new hires spend eight years progressing to the top pay rate, the elimination of cost-of-living increases to mitigate inflation and a shift away from pensions to 401(k) plans.)

Toyota and Honda have been selling cars in the USA since the 60's and 70's. Jap cars are still considered the gold standard of the automotive industry.

Maybe it's "Wentzville"?

"Every dime the auto industry is spending on Joe Biden’s radical climate mandates should be spent on workers," U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., posted on social media. "They deserve better wages, better hours, and a guarantee their jobs will be safe – not shipped off to China."
You are correct on the spelling, we were talking on the phone and I have never heard of Wentzville. Auto plants are often called by the name of the city or town they are located in. My brother started in Lakewood Ga, where the last car was the Chevy Caprice. That plant closed down in 1990 so he moved the Shreveport, La to the Chevy S-10 plant. That closed in 2012 so he moved to the Bowling Green, Ky. Corvette Plant. He has a specialist job, he started working for the General Motors Assembly Division as a union plumber/pipefitter. He starts at 5:06 AM every day turning on all the assembly line equipment so the plant will be ready when the assembly line workers start. Then he is on standby all day in case something breaks. He is a shop steward and he told me GM has about eight different tiers of workers. It takes eight years for them to make top pay.

Several years ago, I had a family member pass away and to help the estate I purchased their Toyota Avalon.

Great running vehicle. Only problem was.... I got caught driving it. Never heard the end of that.

Seems a little unfair for the three plants on strike to get their small strike pay and every other plant is still making the big money. Imagine if SOB had done that with us. Maybe close CACH in Chicago. Or shut down the west entirely since he stole their pension money 😉. Unless I’m missing something.

It sounds like it’s rotating so everyone will eventually be doing it so really not unfair, although a little curious way of doing things

Does seem like a Tough Guy type of maneuvering . Let others reep the reward of your sacrifice.

The Principal Officer of a Local.... can't make less than the highest paid member.

I didn't make the rules.
They should make more in my opinion I don’t know why anyone would want that job. All you do is take arrows and hear complaints. 🤷‍♂️ and you don’t have a time clock you’re always on the clock.
