Just heard that Democrats are about to introduce legislation to put 4 more justices on the Supreme Court. Packing SCOTUS. Anyone think the Dems are wanting to maintain control of government, turning us into a one party state?

Makes sense though ... show the extreme left they tried and also showed the left that there is no buy in on that bit of insanity.

Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, a co-sponsor of the bill, told the Journal that adding justices “will shore up the public’s confidence in the court and its legitimacy in the public’s eyes.”

Also backing the measure are House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler (NY-10th District) Subcommittee Chair Hank Johnson (GA-4th District), and freshman New York Rep. Mondaire Jones. Nadler’s office wouldn’t confirm or deny the proposal to The Post.

Congress altered the number of justices on the court several times over the 19th Century from a low of five to a high of 10.
The number was fixed at nine shortly after the Civil War.

In the 1930s, President Franklin D. Roosevelt unsuccessfully sought to expand the court after conservative justices ruled against some of his New Deal policies.

So much for unity.

I wonder if Sleepy Joe has a clue about this?

This kind of game of cat and mouse will have no winners.

So the dems pack the court. Then the next time republicans have control, they pack the court. Then the dems again. Then the repubs again. Eventually we have 1023 Supreme Court justices, unless people pull their heads out of their asses right now.

It will be fine

No worries! Moderate Joe would never go along with it.

And besides, even @It will be fine doesn't want to see court packing happen.

Joe has said he’s not a fan of adding justices. He announced a commission to look at the structure of the courts. That’s basically corporate speak to pretend you’re taking an issue seriously. This proposal has no chance of passing the Senate. I have no problem with keeping attention on the fact that Mitch destroyed any sense of legitimacy the court had.

In the meantime if they get 4 liberal justices then anything they push through Congress that's radical enough to be challenged in court will ultimately be rubber stamped by SCOTUS. Expect trying to get two new states to come soon.

So what's the political angle for Democrats in even doing this then? Seems like a great way for them to lose House and Senate seats.
I’ve always given the hard left props on having a :censored2:ing spine. When they are handed power they run with it, political consequences be damned. The right could learn from these people.

He might not be a fan of it, but he will have no problem rubber stamping his handler’s agenda.
