Positively San Diego: UPS workers gift special truck to toddler who greets them – ABC 10

Toddler’s love of UPS trucks spreads joy to workers

Most people get excited when they see a UPS truck pulling up because it means a package is arriving. However, for one little boy, it’s not the packages, it’s the big brown trucks themselves that bring joy.

“All of a sudden we were seeing UPS drivers on the way home and leaving. It was just like UPS on steroids all of a sudden,” says Clarissa Alcazar.

That’s because the UPS hub in Chula Vista is on the route Alcazar jogs with her 2-year-old son Marco in a stroller.

Voting rights group plans protest at UPS HQ in Sandy Springs amid legislation debate – Reporter Newspapers

A voting rights group will hold a protest March 25 at UPS headquarters in Sandy Springs on March 25 as part of a campaign urging corporations to oppose state legislation it says would suppress turnout and make it harder to vote.

The protest is planned from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at 55 Glenlake Parkway, said Fenika Miller, the state coordinator for Black Voters Matter.

“UPS believes in the importance of the democratic process and supports facilitating the ability of all eligible voters to exercise their civic duty,” the statement said. “Like other businesses in the community, we are working to ensure equitable access to the polls and the integrity of the election process across the state. We are also in continuous conversations with stakeholders to support the passage of legislation that accomplishes these important goals.“

UPS names new Europe president – AirCargo News

UPS has appointed Daniel Carrera into the role of president Europe — a role that will see him managing the company’s operations in 56 countries and territories in the region.

Prior to his new position, Carrera, who is from Spain, held several senior leadership positions at UPS Europe. Most recently he was president West Europe District, as well as international ambassador for diversity and inclusion.

“In these roles, he played a key role as the region completed a $2bn, five-year investment cycle which improved speed, added capacity, and met increased demands driven by e-commerce, healthcare, and cross-border trade,” the company said.
