Families, friends deliver tribute to UPS drivers in Auburn – Sun Journal

UPS management wanted to show appreciation for drivers Friday.

You don’t always see them, but you know they’re out there.

While the coronavirus has put many out of work, for those who make a living delivering packages, it’s gone the other way, with a heavy increase of orders being shipped.

Over the past few weeks, many UPS locations set up “Thank You” days at their facilities to show appreciation for their workers. Damon Currier, a manager at the Auburn center, wanted to show his appreciation, as well.

Union leaders, UPS respond to COVID-19 outbreak at Tucson UPS facility – KVOA

United Parcel Service, commonly known as UPS, is a busy company that reaches thousands of doors in just a few hours.

At the UPS facility on Silverlake Road and Park Avenue in Tucson, they have seen an outbreak of the coronavirus and a local union has said the company isn’t doing enough.

A UPS spokesman responded with the following statement:

“Our first priority is always the safety of our employees and the communities we serve. We have been in active communication with Local 104 leaders in Tucson to hear and address their concerns. In any instance where there is a confirmed diagnosis, we immediately contact the Department of Public Health to facilitate a contact trace, fully clean the work area before work resumes, and communicate with potentially impacted employees. We have rigorous safety protocols in place, including cleaning our facilities multiple times a day, providing our employees with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), implementing social distancing, and providing supplies to clean their work stations and vehicles. We have both a privilege and a responsibility to continue safely working during this challenging period.”

Union: At least 36 UPS employees in Tucson facility tested positive for COVID-19 – KGUN9

The union representing UPS workers in Tucson says there has been an outbreak of COVID-19 at one of its facilities.

Teamsters Local 104 said in a news release Thursday they believe at least 36 employees of a key UPS distribution facility in Tucson have tested positive for the coronavirus, three of whom were admitted to intensive care units.

A recent KGUN 9 investigation found several people in Tucson waiting weeks for deliveries from UPS due to staffing issues related to COVID-19 and a higher-than normal volume of packages at the facility on Silverlake Road. In that investigation, UPS declined to say how many of its employees had tested positive for the virus.
