UPS driver dies in Highway 94 crash – Fox 21

A UPS driver from Colorado Springs is dead after a rollover crash on Highway 94 Thursday night.

Troopers said the crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Highway 94 about three miles east of Ellicott. Troopers said a UPS delivery truck was headed westbound when it went off the right side of the road and rolled, ejecting the driver.

The driver, 71-year-old Don Buckner of Colorado Springs, was flown to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Online orders are through the roof during this pandemic, almost literally at the UPS distribution center in Warwick.

According to workers there, 136,000 packages have piled up and staff can’t keep up with demand.

“There’s probably 46 to 50 trailers sitting in the yard that haven’t even been tapped into yet,” said Matt Maini, a business agent for Teamsters Local 251.

Many of those deliveries to homes and businesses are late. Customers are showing their frustration.

UPS hints at drone ambitions – Light Reading

Shipping giant UPS said it is testing drone delivery services in an effort that could have significant implications for the nation’s wireless network operators.

In a virtual presentation Tuesday at the Wireless Infrastructure Association’s Connect (X) trade show, UPS’s Bala Ganesh said that the company has conducted several drone tests since obtaining US government approval in late 2019 to operate a drone airline.

“We’ve been working on this for five years,” Ganesh, the VP of UPS’s Advanced Technology Group, said in his presentation. “Today we are delivering.”
