As the first of the recently announced retail partners to offer UPS Access Point® locations, customers are now able to ship UPS® packages directly to a Michaels store, as well as drop off pre-labeled shipments and make returns to e-commerce retailers that offer UPS drop off, all while picking up their favorite seasonal and DIY essentials.

New info: UPS driver shot after refusing to give man more money – Fox 8

It happened on Tuesday at around 5 p.m. on Scovill Avenue. According to the police report, the driver said the man asked for money and he gave him $5, but the suspect demanded more.

The driver then went to the back of his vehicle and locked all the doors. He called 911.

While the victim was on the phone with dispatch, the suspect fired into the truck. The victim was struck.

He said the suspect said if he didn’t get more money he would shoot again. The victim opened the door and gave the suspect $ 82.

UPS CEO: US consumer is holding up – Yahoo Finance

The U.S. manufacturing sector may be in recession and the jobs market is cooling down, but the U.S. consumer is still alive and kicking says shipping giant United Parcel Service (UPS).

“The consumer is holding up in the U.S., there is no doubt about that. We believe it will be a healthy peak season. We think e-commerce will continue to grow,” UPS CEO David Abney told Yahoo Finance.

Despite Abney’s upbeat read on a key linchpin of the economy, there are cracks starting to emerge in the U.S. consumer is strong thesis. Full blame goes to rising uncertainty among consumers on the impact on their wallets from the Trump administration’s trade war with China.

1st drone delivery beyond line of sight made in Raleigh at WakeMed, UPS reports – CBS 17

The first drone delivery flight by any company beyond a visual line of sight has been launched in Raleigh by a UPS subsidiary, the parent company announced Tuesday.

UPS won government approval Friday to operate a nationwide fleet of drones, which will let the company expand deliveries on hospital campuses and move it one step closer to making deliveries to consumers.

Immediately after that, UPS Flight Forward Inc. used a Matternet M2 quadcopter on the Raleigh WakeMed campus for a commercial delivery — a historic first event.

UPS driver shot on Cleveland’s east side – Fox 8

A UPS driver was shot during a robbery at Scovill Avenue and East 55th Street in Cleveland shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The 55-year-old victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with gunshot wounds, according to the Cleveland Division of Police. Witnesses said it appeared someone was taken into custody.

The Crime Scene Unit recovered a weapon and towed the delivery truck from the scene. UPS did not comment on the shooting, but said its security team is working with investigators.
