UPS Expands ADL Service in Taiwan – Cargoforwarder

United Parcel Service (UPS) has further expanded its delivery options for e-commerce shipments in Taiwan by working with the country’s national postal authority, Chunghwa Post and Palm Box Digital. The self-pickup and delivery service operates from 641 locations across the territory.

According to the “UPS Pulse of the Online Shopper” 2018 study, about 71% of Asian consumers are interested in receiving packages via alternate delivery locations – ADLs.

“Given that e-commerce orders in Taiwan grew 20.9% from 2015 to 2017, UPS’s latest enhancements help retailers to meet these needs, and place them in a strong position to capture a greater share of consumers in a high-potential market like Taiwan,” said KK Leung, president of North Asia district, UPS Asia Pacific Region. UPS is also expanding ADL offerings in other locations in Asia – in June, UPS announced it was increasing its ADL network in Hong Kong to about 500, to take advantage of growing cross-border

FedEx, UPS Prefer Free Trade, but Will Adjust to Trump Tariff Policies – The Street

Perhaps trade wars aren’t so easy to win.

U.S. shipping giants FedEx and United Parcel Service are advocating for lower trade barriers and free trade policies as U.S. President Donald Trump prepares to impose additional tariffs on Chinese imports.

Trump announced late Monday a new round of tariffs on about $200 billion of Chinese goods, as China’s current trade practices “plainly constitute a grave threat to the long-term health and prosperity of the United States economy.” The 10% tax, which is set to be levied on Sept. 24, is set to increase to 25% at year-end. The president also threatened tariffs on approximately $267 billion of additional imports should China respond with retaliatory tariffs. Ahead of the announcement, China said it would “take necessary countermeasures” should Trump impose any new tariffs.
