Suspects escape after allegedly punching UPS driver and stealing packages – KRDO

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery involving a UPS driver Friday afternoon near the area of Nevada Lane and Adventure Way in Falcon.

The sheriff’s office says the driver called in around 1:30 p.m. on Friday to report that two men with a knife had punched him in the stomach and stolen some of the packages in the UPS truck. The victim told deputies they did not get a good description of the suspects, but the victim did notice they were driving a red vehicle.

Due to the rural nature of the area, deputies have not been able to find any surveillance footage that may have caught the crime. Lt. Deborah Mynatt says UPS is working to determine the value of the stolen packages.

The driver was not medically transported to a local hospital, though their condition wasn’t released.

Schumer to UPS: find missing AP exams or refund Starpoint High students – WGRZ

Dozens of students at Starpoint Central High School in Lockport are now faced with a difficult decision after their advanced placement exams got lost after being shipped.

According to a letter from Principal Gil Licata to families on July 16, a box containing 106 AP exams in Literature and U.S. History disappeared on the way to the College Board’s national grading center in Ewing, New Jersey.

The tests were administered on May 5 and 6, then shipped on May 7 via a pre-printed shipping label created by the College Board. Two months later, on July 7, the College Board contacted Starpoint to say the box had not yet arrived.

“I personally feel that it’s ridiculous,” said Allie Schuler, an incoming senior at Starpoint High School, one of the students impacted by the loss of exams.

My internship at UPS Public Affairs working on international policy – FIU

How did you get your internship? Through my previous position as an administrative and programs/ communications intern at The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute, I was encouraged to apply for the Martha Flores Scholarship. This scholarship was created by Jose Acosta, former president of UPS Public Affairs Americas Region, to honor his late mother Martha Flores, former Cuban radio host known as ‘La Reina de la Noche.’’ After two rounds of interviews, I was awarded the first recipient of the scholarship and was offered a summer internship with the UPS Public Affairs Office in Washington, D.C.

What are you doing there? My current position consists of writing reports that track the political and economic traction occurring in Latin America as well as analyzing small and medium-sized business (SMBs) growth. In addition, I have conducted a series of comparisons between SMBs in developing and developed countries to track where improvements in shipping and exports can be made.

What projects did you work on? Besides working on a series of LATAM reports for the UPS Public Affairs International team, I have also worked extensively on the UPS Women’s Exporter Program. This program is designed to offer women-owned SMB’s the opportunity to access global markets and tools used to improve consumer and business relations as well as exports progress.
