‘Everyone knows him:’ Community honors UPS driver for 30 years of service to Port Richmond – SILiive

He grew up in Port Richmond, and the community he’s called home for decades honored him Tuesday night for his 30 years of service as a delivery driver.

The Port Richmond Strong Civic Association and about 50 members of the community honored UPS driver Carlos Acevedo during a ceremony at the Reformed Church on Staten Island on Port Richmond Avenue.

Mario Buonviaggio, the civic association’s vice president, said he grew up knowing Acevedo and the two often traveled together to Port Richmond High School.

“The guy always has a smile, even in 95 degree weather,” Buonviaggio said. “He should be recognized. Everyone in Port Richmond knows him — everyone.”

Who’s UPS Gonna Call? Bug Busters – Yahoo

It’s Japanese beetle season and UPS Airlines is in full battle mode to prevent the destructive pest from hopping on a plane for a ride out West.

Japanese beetles, which were accidentally introduced to the U.S. more than a century ago, cause massive crop and plant damage each year. They feed on the roots of grasses and foliage of more than 300 species of ornamental and agricultural plants. The insects tend to hatch in large numbers and when they congregate can quickly defoliate a plant.

The beetles are unable to fly across the Rocky Mountains, but sometimes get transported on aircraft to the West Coast where they pose a big threat to fruit and vegetable farms.

Did You Participate In Any Of United Parcel Service’s (NYSE:UPS) Fantastic 126% Return ? – NASDAQ

The main point of investing for the long term is to make money. Better yet, you’d like to see the share price move up more than the market average. Unfortunately for shareholders, while the United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) share price is up 94% in the last five years, that’s less than the market return. However, if you include the dividends then the return is market beating. However, more recent buyers should be happy with the increase of 78% over the last year.

While markets are a powerful pricing mechanism, share prices reflect investor sentiment, not just underlying business performance. One flawed but reasonable way to assess how sentiment around a company has changed is to compare the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price.

Over half a decade, United Parcel Service managed to grow its earnings per share at 1.5% a year. This EPS growth is slower than the share price growth of 14% per year, over the same period. So it’s fair to assume the market has a higher opinion of the business than it did five years ago. And that’s hardly shocking given the track record of growth.

‘Challenges are Our Fire’ – UPS

Luis Pinto sees passion and opportunity, challenges and tenacity. He sees – and has experienced – all of it in the Latinx community … his community.

“Every challenge is an opportunity to grow,” said Luis, discussing the power within Latinx small businesses and the artwork he created for UPS’s Proudly Unstoppable campaign. “The UPS team is amazing. They were there to understand and make sure this project reached the Latinx community, and UPS let me speak to my community. I feel very fortunate and excited.”

The piece titled “Challenges are Our Fire” speaks to the determination and colorful diversity of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) within the Latinx community. The powerful depiction of hands holding tools and products represents the craft and creativity of Latinx small business owners. The underlying theme is when one succeeds, the entire community succeeds.

Luis’s artwork will be front and center on 500,000 UPS Medium Express Boxes and 150,000 The UPS Store Express Envelopes.
