Lloyd Knight continues serving those who served

“I had all this great leadership and management experience, but I had never written a resume,” said Lloyd Knight, a 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran. “But, I had the exact qualifications UPS was looking for (such as a security clearance and load planning experience). I retired from the Air Force on a Friday and began working at UPS the next Monday… I was blessed.”

Fourteen years into his UPS career, Lloyd knows the ease of his transition from active duty to civilian life is not the path all veterans experience.

That’s why he joined a group of veterans from Atlanta-area Fortune 500 companies. The group is called VETLANTA, and Lloyd serves as its first and only president.

Walnut Creek UPS workers say timecard altered, pay withheld – KTVU

Four Walnut Creek-based UPS employees have sued the company, accusing it of tampering with timecards, not paying workers for work-related activity such as undergoing COVID-19 checks, and not adhering to state rules regarding COVID-19-related sick pay.

The suit, filed Wednesday in Contra Costa County Superior Court, is asking for class-action status, presumably so other UPS employees with grievances against the company could join. UPS supervisor William Turman is also named in the suit.

Drivers Matthew Ulricksen, Shane Barlow, James Jones, and warehouse worker Joshua Stuart, allege supervisors altered timecards several times after they punched in at the Walnut Creek facility.

EEOC Sues United Parcel Service for Disability Discrimination – EEOC

UPS Fired Jacksonville Employee Because of His Diabetes, Saying he Was a “Liability,” Federal Agency Charges

United Parcel Service, Inc. violated federal law by firing an employee because of his disability, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.

According to the EEOC’s suit, a UPS human resources supervisor at a Jacksonville ware-house location referred to an employee with a disability as a “liability,” claiming that he could not do his job because of his diabetes. The employee requested the accommodation of an occasional short break of less than five minutes in between unloading trailers to check his blood sugar and eat or drink something if necessary.

The employee suffers from erratic or brittle diabetes and wears an insulin pump with a continuous glucose monitor. The employee was able to perform the essential functions of the job as pre-loader and indeed performed the job at UPS without issue for two days before his termination. After the employee’s second shift ended, the UPS Human Resources Supervisor then left the employee a voicemail message advising him it was his last day of work.

UPS, Louisville’s largest employer, increases pay for some Worldport staff – Louisville Business First

United Parcel Service Inc., Louisville’s largest employer by far, is increasing pay for some workers at its Worldport shipping facility at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

On July 18, starting pay for Next Day Air employees on the night shift increases to $18.50 per hour, up from a starting wage of $14.50 per hour. Second Day Air employees who work during the day will be paid $16.50 per hour, also up from $14.50, according to a UPS news release.

The new starting pay rate applies to all UPS part-time package handlers and administrative staff at Worldport, not just new hires. Current bonuses for new-hire employees will end, but a $50 weekly bonus for working on Sunday continues.

UPS driver threatens Fresno family that confronted him about lousy drop-off – Fox 26

A UPS drop-off gone wrong ended with the delivery driver screaming at a Fresno family, threatening to beat them.

The whole thing was caught on camera.

It all started when the driver tossed a woman named Brittnee’s package directly onto a group of succulents she had been raising to sell, damaging them, rather than simply leaving it at her front door. She did not want her full name used, out of fear of retaliation.
