Fired for posting video on Facebook

My building we had pics of a sup sleeping in trailers on top of bags. Management fired the sup based off pics and then thanked the people for taking the pic.

Slow & steady wins the race.
I frequently take pics of the effed-up loads I am dispatched with. When asked the next morning why my numbers looked bad, I show the pic to my sup as proof of a bad load.
When I am sent a message to sheet up a misload as "nsn", I take a pic of the message next to the pkg label. I work as instructed, so if I am questioned as to why I recorded a good address as nsn, then I can show proof of the message I received. The only photos I take on UPS property are to cover my ass. Management doesn't hesitate to produce records when trying to discipline it's employees, I'll be damned if I'm going into the office empty handed.

What is the company's justification for the termination? What Contract article are you being accused of violating? Here in the Western Region there are 7 specific violations that can get you immediately fired without first going thru progressive discipline (warning letter, suspension etc.) and posting a video on Facebook isn't one of them.

UPS,doesnt like any negative press.

I still remember them, spray painting the logos off of trucks, when they were in an accident.
Even with all of the social media, how many really bad stories,do you hear?

The real bad ones,magically disappear!

Rumor has it,they have a guy with a bag full of money,to make them go away!

I know a few few things, that never got metioned on the news!

I haven't seen anything in the contract that said I should have been immediately fired. I wasn't on drugs/ alcohol, I didn't lie about the situation. I just used mis-judgment on my part.
I feel like a stern warning should have been enough. I was very apologetic, and hopefully that will realize that I am a good employee that enjoys my job, and simply messed up.

Reread your original post.....Zero tolerance policy. I know ups has a Zero tolerance policy on workplace violence. If I get into an verbal argument with my center manager and it escalates and I hit her....I would fully expect to be walked out the door....and probably arrested too.

Yes but I didn't beat the crap out of somebody. There's a zero tolerance policy against harassment but yet everyone there uses gay slurs, curses uncontrollably etc..
I understand that I messed up, I'm just saying the punishment doesn't match the crime.

Not if a complaint was actually filed for using gay slurs....How long have you worked for ups...just curious? And were you aware that posting a video taken inside ups was against the rules when you originally posted it?

I've not worked there long. And I hadn't ever even thought about it. I had no idea what I was called into the office over. Until he explained what was going on. And it was like oh wow. I can't believe this is happening.

Somebody snitched on you. Chances are you're done but ya never know. Good luck.

If you've made book & your supes vouch for you and have nothing negative to say about you then I personally feel that you'll get your job back. If the post compromises the company standards & painted a negative picture about the workplace then I'd worry

Cops came to our building several years ago, SWAT style, helicopter and all, and took away a pt worker accused of a serous felony. The local tv news and paper did stories about it, but quoted an address down the street from our hub and never mentioned UPS.
It's interesting how UPS gets media to spin stories their way.

My building has had several arrest made. Mostly some kind of domestic thing. Wait for you at the guard shack when you come in or LP will escort you to them during the sort. Both FT and PT.

Only time the sort stops is for fire alarms. I remember my first year..... a fire extinguisher inside a hazmat box suddenly discharged after being loaded into a PC. A PT sup saw the powder cloud, panicked and pulled the fire alarm! That was a long day.....lol
