Driving a commercial vehicle isn't skilled labor?
So those guys deserve to be paid less than McDonald's workers?
No it’s not skilled. The training is done in a week and that’s probably even more than necessary. It’s not comparable to the skill involved in the trades. McDonalds starts workers at minimum wage, $20/hr is more than minimum wage.

Do you realize that 30 percent of the economy (perhaps more) is comprised of low-income jobs?

Instead of constantly denigrating others, perhaps you should just appreciate the lower-mid-level career that you achieved, and have more compassion for those less fortunate.
"Lower-mid-level"....is $120k? I certainly appreciated it.....

You live in Fantasyland my friend.

Driving a commercial vehicle is a very big responsibility.

Plus working outside the elements all day.

But they can keep advertising 140 bucks a day and wonder why they can get nobody to work for them.

A substitute teacher(public school) here.....gets $70 per day......8 hours.

A full-time SPED para-professional(2 years college minimum).......$13.50 per hour.

You know the ad wasn’t for my company, right? Why do labor markets upset you guys so much?

Referring to someone as “unskilled” is a smidge on the dehumanizing side.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, a substantial amount of the jobs in this economy are considered low paying.

Consequently, even if everyone concentrated on post-secondary education and achievement, somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 plus percent would still be SOL.

In such a system, it wouldn’t be a terrible thing for the ”winners” to show a little compassion towards those that don’t have a seat at the table.

Simple human decency, I guess you could refer to it as.

What is this drivel? This is America. If you want to earn good money, earn it. Not all jobs should provide you a life of luxury with no effort. There is nothing preventing anyone from learning a skilled trade. The amount of excuses you people are coming up with to justify sloth is pathetic. The soft bigotry of low expectations is not compassion.
