UPS driver doing a route blind

FT Swing drivers have never been able to bid on work available for the upcoming week here. You show up each day, and work as directed.
We have bid cover drivers that do pick by seniority vacation routes for the week. Non bid cover drivers get placed wherever for the day. All are FT drivers and we have no temp drivers. If the Centers are still short they will split the work up among the Air drivers.

That's how it is here too. If you don't have a bid or go "unassigned " as a FT driver, you do whatever route is open. If you have seniority, you can cover a route that is a known vacation that week.

Yes they can send you out on a route blind.

Follow ORION 100%. Pull over at noon and take a full lunch. Call in at 2:00 to tell them how many stops you have left. Repeat daily. Its their problem if they send you out blind without adjusting the stop count; all you are doing is giving their problem back to them.

Its all good.
Cover drivers here. Any full time driver, permanent or temp, has to work as directed.
Cover drivers can bid routes where the regular driver is on vacation, or out for a long period on disability.
Other than that, suck it up and work as directed. You are the company's asset. You will go where you are needed. If you have to go blind, you do that or go work for another company.
