UPS: Hidden Camera Found In Pa. Restroom; Police Investigating – CBS Pittsburgh

Authorities are investigating after officials say a hidden mobile camera was found hidden in a women’s restroom at a United Parcel Service satellite facility in western Pennsylvania.

UPS spokeswoman Kim Krebs said Wednesday the person responsible for the camera found in the North Apollo facility has been identified and fired. Police have begun an investigation into the incident.

The holiday rush isn’t over yet for shipping companies. This week, consumers will flood the parcel delivery company with ill-fitting sweaters, gaudy jewelry and other unwanted holiday gifts to be returned.

For retailers, the reverse supply chain problem can be costly: The National Retail Federation estimates returns cost U.S. retailers more than $260 billion in lost sales. “Retailers are continuously improving their returns programs,” Teresa Finley, chief marketing officer for UPS, said in a statement. “The next great opportunity is to unlock the value of these returned products through a sophisticated reverse logistics program.”

UPS facing $73k penalty in Louisville worker safety case – WDRB

UPS faces more than $73,000 in fines after inspectors uncovered workplace-safety violations at a Grade Lane hangar at Louisville International Airport, a federal database shows.

It is the steepest penalty levied against the package-delivery company in at least the last five years, according to a WDRB News analysis of online U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration records.

The young woman, who has since died, pleaded guilty in her traffic case.

The father of a now deceased Shorewood woman who pleaded guilty to crashing into the back of a parked United Parcel Service truck is now suing United Parcel Service.

The UPS truck was illegally parked, according to the lawsuit, and was very dirty and difficult to see. Also, the suit said, the lack of skid marks indicated Johanna Burchardt “didn’t make an effort to avoid the illegally parked vehicle because she couldn’t see it.”
