9.5 Retaliation

You are guaranteed 8 and don't want to work over 9.5. You are not guaranteed an early start, air jobs come and go happens every where every day. More than likely after 17 years the area has grown enough that they can justify the air driver now and the 9.5 grievance was the push that was needed to make it happen.

Go cry to your buddies about how much you hate the union tomorrow. Your wife has heard enough.

Wherever I see Trump, it smells like he's Putin.
The start time here can't be later than 9 AM for all but two routes. They actually put in a satellite route and put 9:30 on the bid, but we grieved it and they had to roll it back. It proved to be quite unprofitable (along with paying cover drivers travel mileage on their personal cars to drive to it) and so it was pulled after 2 years.

Those two late start routes, can only be started at 12 noon, or not at all, and then only if there is a customer that requires a late pickup, like the UPS store, Staples etc. Otherwise the company would lose an AM air loop. We have the language, but have never had the need for the routes.

My understanding as to why they would give more importance to those late pickups than a cut of resis, is that it's easier for them to justify the late start to accommodate those late pickup shippers, and keep the stops per car about the same, rather than just adding 2 more hours of resis to an already full day, just to fill up the time until that late pickup is scheduled.

We have a guy who recently went on the 9.5 list.

The Company, in it's infinite wisdom, now thinks the remedy is to push this drivers start time back 45 minutes later than the rest of the Center, while giving the next day air packages to an air driver.

I feel that this an obvious case of harassment, along with a contractual violation of Article 40 of the National Master, by manufacturing an artificial "air exception" scenario.
This driver has been delivering this air for 17 years, how can it now be an "exception" because they want to reduce his hours on the front end?

Anybody else seen the Company take this position?
file! Start times should be granted by seniority. At least in central region.
