Name one constitution that has performed better for over 225 years? Typical, you see something you dislike and want to throw out everything. There was a Japanese admiral who was asked why the Japanese didn't invade the U.S. during WWII? He said it was because there was a gun behind every blade of grass in the U.S. You want to know what a particular group would try to do if they got complete power? Look at their demands to get rid of all civilian owned guns. The only reason this country won't eventually devolve into authoritarianism is our military and law enforcement has sworn an oath to uphold our constitution. They take that very seriously unlike many of our politicians.

They were defending the Constitution. When cops protect protesters from angry onlookers what do you think they're doing? They are protecting free speech and the right of assembly.
