Are UPS Drivers Living paycheck-to-paycheck?

For the average part timer it is next to impossible...20 hours a week making close to 18 an hour...clears 260...after taxes...

I gross more in one day than the kid took home in a week.

If 70% of the total UPS Union workforce is part time it could play with the voting...as the deadline approaches expect some calculated scare tactics.. especially on B/C..
Yeah but they don’t vote so there’s that.

When this is on the horizon you know there is trouble. Too much $ printing.
“This is one of the ways that inflation cheats Social Security beneficiaries.”

It’s not even their money. That’s my money and your money. I’m sorry but I don’t feel bad for someone who failed to save for their retirement and now they’re living off of a socialist government handout. Go work at wal-mart.

Inflation is bad, but it wouldn’t be nearly as bad if we didn’t have to pay into these inefficient social welfare programs.

Working about 30 hrs a week PT preload clearing around $600. Considering another PT job like doordash/uber or pulling some double shifts. Main hesitation on the double shift is I don’t want to do day shift cause of the hour plus delay and don’t want to mess up my circadian rhythm by doing night shift

Yrs ago, in feeders, when we still got paper checks on Fri, they were usually delivered to the office Thur afternoon. Several drivers with night runs would interupt their sleep to run down and pick it up so they could, possibly, deposit it then or as early Fri morn as possible.
Still fairly new, at the time, I just didn't get it.

Back in the 1980's I remember lots of driver's spouses coming to the center on Friday mornings to pick up the checks so they could get deposited ASAP.

No, Insiders are, but not drivers. Drivers are arrogant :censored2:bags that spend way too much money on their trucks and lunchboxes.

HEY HEY HEY EVERYBODY! I got a $500 lunchbox with a radio built in with my fresh UPS socks and fanny.

That might’ve been the most ridiculous comment ever posted on this website. You made a general statement about everyone who is full-time package car/feeder driver, The vast majority of which we’re also part time once. Turn down the nonsense and quit dividing people.

People seem to forget that part time work or non skilled work isn’t supposed to be a job that pays the bills and that you can live off. McDonald’s workers and UPSs loaders are supposed to be 18-24 year old young adults in college for extra money. Not to raise a family on.
People also seem to forget that age group still lives with their parents and goes to college full time.

You're not gonna be able to afford an apartment and all necessities on a part time job in this decade; While still having extra time and money to go to college and study with your non existent free time. Oh and all the start times for each shift are at inconvenient hours of the day/night.

Most members would downvote and move on, or take a stab back at me; You took it personal, so you're butthurt? Does your socks still have the tags on them?

That’s interesting I was in college in the early 90s and worked at UPS and I could afford none of those things either.

I don’t care what most people would do if you say something as ignorant as you said I’m going to call you out, you’re being a petulant little brat who thinks you’re the only one who’s ever had to deal with anything. Grow up and put your big boy pants on little boy. Do you know every driver? That would be like me saying every part timer doesn’t wanna work and just wants to smoke Marijuana and have everything given to them. I wouldn’t say it because it’s not true.

So you're in the first group, living with parents.
