Long story short.

Driver A and Driver B are both Tues-Saturday drivers. However Driver B has a side deal worked out with management that he comes in every Monday to help and takes another day off of the week, sometimes being Saturday due to him running out of hours. Driver A has more seniority than Driver B and is required to work every Saturday no questions asked.
Is there something wrong here? Can Driver A grieve this and possibly go back to Mon-Fri? Asking for a friend...

Extra work should be offered in seniority order, so yes the senior driver has a valid grievance if he's not being offered that Monday work.

This. Monday is extra work and should be offered to seniority driver first. However, they don't have to let him off another day during the week or Saturday. Unless he is out of hours on Saturday.

In our area, Monday would be considered the 6th punch day for a Tuesday -Saturday driver and would be paid at time and a half. People with higher seniority should be offered the work opportunity first.

Driver A is entitled to the extra work on Monday at time and a half if they are the most senior person who wants it. Driver A bangs out on the occasional Saturday. Problem will solve itself eventually

You're Driver "B" in this scenario, right "Friend?"

What's wrong is the Union is letting the company dictate. Stop all these deals and stick to the seniority list!
