Break no longer an option in DIAD IV

Hi gang. I just wanted to see if this was happening elsewhere in UPS land. Starting Monday of last week, our Center Manager stated that we were required to enter our lunch and breaks into the DIAD. I knew it was coming after the Cali lawsuit (thanks for the heads up, Brown Cafe members!) However, after just one day, the break option in the Break/Lunch menu is gone and only the lunch option is left. Is this happening anywhere else? I wonder where they are going with this?

Take an hour and twenty minute lunch. I usually end up doing that anyway, I put both my breaks back to back after lunch. Never have had anyone say anything about it.

They started this up this week where I am at too. Our two breaks and lunch time still have that field listed in the DIAD. I got a message yesterday that said to be sure to take the full sixty minutes because "somebody will be looking at this", another that said the new Division Manager decided no more over nine-five, and a third message that said to enter ten minutes AM time no matter when we actually leave the building. hmm, are those California lawyers branching out?

Here in chicago they moved it to other work in the board. They are also paying us if we dont take our lunch or breaks, we only put in what we take. Its almost like bonus for me i can work thru my lunch get off earlier and get paid to drive home to see my kids. Plus 9.5 comes earlier and 8 hour requests are now at a 430 punchout if we dont take our lunch.

We just got the break message this week in Boston, and we are still not on PAS. I saw a post on here claiming that it is related to PAS and our dispatch.

They should do this EVERYWHERE!
Code 05 every day and take as much lunch as you can but get paid if you cant.

We have had this for a bout 2 months now. Everyday we get messages to be sure and put in our lunch. We however can put in 5 mins if we want. We are to get "special " permission though to not take lunch.

Where was the permission years ago, and even now some routes dont allow for a lunch. Thank you cali drivers for getting this ball rolling.

WOW! We have had a few guys who have tried this at our center in the last few months. (getting done and come on in to punch out at 4:30) The supervisors wouldn't let them leave the building until they had taken there lunch or 5:30 had come. One guy even worked thru his lunch to get back with his air and they told him if he wanted to get paid for his lunch he had to take it, before he punched out. They are no longer writing ANYONE out for lunch.

I guess it's different in different parts of the country.

At our center it started about 3 weeks ago. We also were told only to input actual times for lunch and break and that would be what was deducted. We also get the daily message reminding us to input our lunch and break into the diad. This past week, however, I was pulled aside and told(along with the other "offenders") that we have to take at least 15 minutes for lunch, and we must use the full 10 minutes for break. I was recording between 5 and 10 minutes for lunch; others were recording 1 minute. I think now the push is to take a longer lunch so that you will have to be on road longer to be over 9.5. Anybody with kids or half a life knows it is such a grind to get home that late every night. I'm not saying it is the right way, but a short(er) lunch means I get home sooner, don't have to work as late to be over 9.5, and I make it to more activities with the kids or at church.

Same here at P-Dale with the 10 minute AM time. I understand it as preload was down at the PCM every day last week. (Our center manager has been coming in at 2am to look over preload) The problem with the route I've been covering is that it's a super heavy air route (I do the SE regional office of the IRS which has 400+ pieces a day this time of year) and I'm allowed to clock in at 8:15 to start scanning. If I enter only 10 minutes AM time it shows I leave the building daily at 8:25 and our PCM isn't until 8:40. I understand them not wanting to charge preload with all my AM time but it's not truthful.

Grunt what ever you dont take should get paid added on to the end of day. Say you phsically work 8 hours and 40 mins now add in a 1 hour lunch and a 10 min paid break( that u didnt take) that totals up to 9 hours and 50 mins so go ahead and file for 9.5 still.

An hour and twenty minutes? Aren`t we only entiltled to take one hour max for the day breaks and lunch included?

Some areas get 2 10 minute paid breaks and all areas get a 1 hour lunch, so between 70 and 80 mins a day.

But we're a bonus center and can only file for over 9.5 if we are actually on road over that and then only if we are over 9.5 for 3 out of 5 days in the week. I feel that planned day and on road should make no difference, but since the union doesn't recognize time standards it is on road time that counts towards grievences. Am I wrong that dispatched time and on road time should not matter, if we are a bonus center?

Sorry Red, your wrong again, we get two paid 10 min breaks and half hour for lunch. We were told we MUST take all and receive a message daily to remind us to put them in the DIAD.
