Haven’t been on a cruise in 20 years. Low and behold, the wife wants to do a Disney cruise with the kids. Lots of options about rooms, front middle rear, decks, and square footage. Anyone have any suggestions?

The ships now compared to 20 years ago are fabulous. I havent been on a Disney cruise yet. 700 nights or so on Royal Caribbean/Celebrity/Azamara. Disney has no casino which is a deal killer for some.
This message board may help you with questions.

It also has other cruise message boards for ports etc..There should be a “Roll Call” for your specific sailing. You can meet others on your cruise if it suits your fancy. The boards have been a bit slower the last year of course but a wealth of information on them.

Haven't cruised on Disney, but we've been on a lot of cruises over the years... balconies work for us. Our first one back in the day was an inside cabin, because it was less expensive. Now I personally prefer to pay a bit more for a balcony, but everyone is different so do whatever works for you and your family. Cruises work well when traveling with multiple age groups, there is something for everyone to be interested in. At least in our family's experience...

Look like the cruise ships are gearing up to resume sailings this summer. They really have to be clear on the reality of the non-vaccinated on board. Will they lock down in case of breakout or delay? There were aiming for a almost total vaccinate onboard population as per CDC recommendations, but I'm not sure how Florida laws will affect that?

If the cruise line option is open Royal Caribbean is great for kids. Lots to do for both adults and kids and is the cruise line we take when the kids are going.

I believe the smoking thing is industry wide with only designated smoking areas and smoking not allowed on the balconies.

Like Cheryl said, we did an inside cabin one time on our very first cruise many years ago, tried a balcony and never went back. You will pay more and unless you are using your room for only crashing you might not mind not having air to breathe or light. :happy-very:

I got lucky then. I had a cigar on the balcony of a Royal Caribbean ship every night.

You must have had very forgiving neighbors to put up with your stinky habit. :happy-very: :cigarsmoker: Actually, I enjoy a nice cigar every once in a while but it's been probably about 5 years...

What is Royal Caribbean's smoking policy?

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy.

I believe some of the smoking restrictions on the balcony came from the Ruby Princess fire(2005/2006).
The cruise lines made changes from plastic dividers to aluminum. It was thought that a cigarette started the fire.

Carnival’s new ship Mardi Gras to arrive in Port Canaveral on June 4

53 pics to browse through... Looks pretty cool!

Mardi Gras will be the first ship powered by liquefied natural gas to be based at a North American port.

The ship’s most notable feature is the nearly 800-foot-long roller coaster called Bolt: Ultimate Sea Coaster.

The ship has six neighborhoods: Grand Central, French Quarter, La Piazza, Summer Landing, Lido and The Ultimate Playground. One unique dining option coming will be Emeril’s Bistro 1396 from Celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse, who is taking his first stab at a cruise ship venue.

It also becomes the first Carnival ship with quick service Big Chicken, a creation of line spokesperson Shaquille O’Neal. :wink-very:

And... It is fricken HUGE!
