I just found out an interesting thing from a crusty old guy at a used car lot. He told me that people remove the catalytic converters in cars before selling them to make them run better, and to sell of course. So beware if you live in a state with emissions and you're buying a used car.

A couple of years ago it was a big thing for thieves to steal catalytic converters out of parked cars and sell to recyclers. I think it was for the platinum.
