My car needed a new water pump. That cost almost as much as new valve stems. Worth it though. I like the car (2002 Trailblazer) and everything else on the car is good and a lot cheaper than getting a new car.
Water pumps used to be $45. Now there are a fortune and you have to rip half the front out to get it installed.

Mine wasn't quite that bad but you do need to yank out the radiator and need a special bigass wrench to get the nut loose. The pump was over $100 plus coolant. The labor was almost $300. He got it done in a couple of hours but it would have taken me a lot longer if I tried to do it myself.

Some if the cars are so bad they recommend changing it when you replace the back spark plugs. You rip out the manifold anyway. 100k miles.

What is a swamp cooler?

A/c looking thing usually on the roof hooked to a water supply blows a fine mist of water out of it
Works ok if the humidity is low
Not so much if humidity is high
