Does anyone else agree with Makavelli’s point that cultural appropriation and culturally unacceptable are one and the same? Like wearing an Indian costume/headdress is the same as teenaged girl wearing a sexy maid costume?

No. They are not. Cultural appropriation can fall under the umbrella of culturally unacceptable if it's done in bad taste like a racist caricature depending on the venue, but they are not the same.

Most culturally appropriated costumes I see are actually done in good taste and the person wearing them chose to dress so because they have some sort of appreciation for or enjoyment of it.

I know I don't get all butthurt (nor does anyone pretend to on my behalf) when people wear lenderhosen or something. No reason why anyone else should.

Lots of people dress up as white trash or hillbillies. None of those are done in good taste. Yet I don't hear anyone bitching
