There are very few things that make me cringe with my generation. The inability to ask questions or stand up for yourself is one that is just pathetic.

It's not a generation thing. It's an upbringing thing.

My sons are 37 and 35. Each have a son and a daughter. Each will ask us advice and ask me help with fixing or building things. Other than that, they fend for themselves. They were raised to be self-sufficient, which too many kids now aren't.

Most parents want their kids to have it easier than they did growing up.

My view is we've reach a point where most kids don't benefit from an easier upbringing than their parents.

It's went from having it easier meant a better chance to succeed. To now it means kids are spoiled rotten.

Everyone always thinks the generation or two after them is weak compared to them. There is some truth to that on a scale. The problem is the scale has slid a long ways.

Social media is either handcuffing or guilting many parents into erroring on the side of caution.
