My wife has been gone for the last ten days. Its been great not having the tv turned on to those stupid home flipping shows 24/7. I have to admit though I do sneak a peak at that blond bimbo who divorced her husband and still does that Flip or Flop show---------but I bet she is really high maintenance.

My wife very seldom records anything. In fact I've showed her a dozen times how simple it is but she always says "she forgot". I have about 4 shows I record new episodes of always. Usually some time during the day I will check out the guide to see if there is anything else that looks interesting. I record lots of PBS stuff. When we both leave for 2 or 3 weeks at a time there are usually plenty of shows recorded to catch up on. I've never maxed out the Direct TV DVR and have always wondered how many hours of recording they are good for.

I don't DVR enough to justify paying the cable company more for their machine. I bought my own DVR and bypass the digital copy protection when I do want to record something. The external hard drive I use has room for over 1000 hours so not an issue.

Nope. Never had one.

Thought about it a long time ago before they started scrambling the signals though.

My neighbor still had one in his yard until a couple of years ago. New guy bought the house and put a pool there instead.

Same size. At first they were cool because you got everything free. You could watch network feeds like the Tonight Show in the afternoon when they would tape it.
