My church's daycare put in the rubber because it was supposedly better. Later had to take it all out and replace it. Something toxic about it I think but don't remember for sure.

I know l they’re thinking the rubber pellets on fake soccer turf is causing health problems. Probably same with rubber mulch. I wouldn’t want my kids to be guinea pigs.

I think its probably still safe but the EPA gets really strict about even small exposures to chemicals. Especially for places like daycares.

Yes loses its leaves in Nov. Flowers once a year small purple/white flowers. It also has bunches of berry like seeds that grown on it.

I don't know much about California trees. Plus it could be an ornamental and not even a native tree.

Looks a lot like this. But can't be sure its the same tree.
