They can only block the tracks for about 10 minutes I think. But they don't care. Have you ever heard of them getting a ticket for it?

I had tracks in the middle of my route I had to cross several times a day. The trains would be stopping and backing up and stopping again. They would often block the road for 30-45 minutes. There was no short detour around them either.

I'm sure ORION would see that and take it into account though.

There are multiple depots on this route. Some days it's not bad. Other days you could lose an hour dealing with trains.

It was always bad on my route. There was a rail station a couple of miles away and they would be moving slow even if they didn't stop. There was a 10 mph curve that trains had to go past.

When I bid on my route it was all on one side of the tracks but when it was relooped they only looked at maps of course and not traffic so had me crossing a minimum of 6 times a day.

Are you still employed here after last night?
Yep. On the call this morning the DM asked me to explain the whole thing to the group. I told them how I dispatched an air driver as soon as we discovered it in order to make service. DM said it was an example of how to try and correct a bad situation. I think most of the CMs on the call would have rolled over. Even got a good job. I was ready to get a pole shoved up my butt.

In other words you found a scapegoat to pass the blame to.

Used to live near a major rail yard in Minny. Pretty sure I spent half the time I lived there waiting for a train to cross

I had train tracks running through the small town I delivered to but the trains weren't required to slow down. It's a weird feeling sitting at a crossing with a mile long fully loaded coal train zipping by 20 feet in front of you doing 50mph. I always thought ---if this train jumps the track I'm toast.

I had several derailments on my route. Slow moving freight trains and poorly maintained tracks. That curve was 10 mph for a good reason. Nobody ever got injured but it meant the road would be blocked all day.
