There are two types of Bimmer drivers. Enthusiasts, and shmucks with extra money who wouldn't know the difference if you swapped the badge on an Audi. The dbags generally make up the latter, of which I am not.

I would figured you more for one of these

Newer 4 Series and a new X3.

In the past two years, I've driven probably 25-30 of them. Everything from a clapped out X1 to the wholesale auction (every warning on) to a new 750i with the M-Sport options (not really an M, just some appearance stuff).

Honestly, they don't really impress me at all. Of course, I drive a four door pickup.

Find a nice old 1800, 2002 ti or maybe an early 318. BTW, BMW doesn't make anything with a standard transmission any more.

I love those classic ones but I don't have the indoor storage or space to properly take care of one.

Not really interested in impressing anyone though. A long, lean luxury couple with power to spare, just for me. Nothing showboaty, nice and subtle.
