Addiction is not a disease.
So alcoholism isn’t a disease? How about gambling addictions? I’ve see gambling be a much worse force in someone’s life than most could imagine. And I’ve witnessed that person first hand, not being able to control themsleves.
By saying it is a disease, you are desolving the responsibility of the person it is inflicting.

I also think that a person who kills someone in a dui/dwi accident should be charged with murder 1. I don't go for this, he had diminished understanding of what he did when he did it. He made that decision when he took that first drink.
What if you killed someone with your car without drinking? You put yourself in whatever situation may have brought about that outcome.....murder?

Society's to blame?

No personal responsibility.

I don’t know... the older I get the less sympathy I have for these people and their “diseases”. As far as drugs go, I’ve only smoked weed because I knew everything else was addictive. Oh, and I took a few Percocet for pain but made sure to only take them at bedtime.

As far as alcohol goes, I’ve made sure to be careful because I know you can get addicted.

I know th

My brother replaced his alcoholism with God. Hasn’t had s drop of alcohol since.
Alcohol takes many many years to be physically and mentally addicted where is drugs such as heroin and meth don't. They are so addictive that a person can literally be addicted the first time they use them.
