Good morning.
Seems more pitching changes in today’s game than ever has added time to the game. However, attendance has gone up as well, sooooooo, I’ll bet it will stay 9 innings for another 100 years or so.Check out time average by year.

That's interesting. Amazing how the times perfectly correlate with the rise of relief pitchers and tv broadcasts.Check out time average by year.

Softball......everything about it is faster. Games are often played in just over an hour. Yet it's not exactly super popular. slap hitters aren't pretty but it works. I remember my father telling me to hit the ball on the ground and quit hitting stupid pop flies.Softball......everything about it is faster. Games are often played in just over an hour. Yet it's not exactly super popular. Hmmmm
Actually one of the problems I have with softball is the closeness and speed of everything's leads to many unforced errors andthings like slap hitters.
Jordan Hicks hit 105 twice yesterday. His arm will be shot in 3 years is my guess. But let's shorten games so guys can go even more all out....Seems more pitching changes in today’s game than ever has added time to the game. And how long did that work out for you?slap hitters aren't pretty but it works. I remember my father telling me to hit the ball on the ground and quit hitting stupid pop flies.
commercial breaks and some of these innings with 2-3 pitching changes. That's what drags things out. They did try to cut down on the messing around in the batters box but I think the biggest factor is the length of commercial breaks.
I used to think that about Aroldis Chapman, but he’s still slinging that thing.Jordan Hicks hit 105 twice yesterday. His arm will be shot in 3 years is my guess. But let's shorten games so guys can go even more all out....

This is actually a huge problem in youth sports. Coaches teaching kids to pound the ball into the ground to take advantage of poor fielding. Instead of teaching kids proper swings to drive the ball.
Chapman is taller too. It takes less force to throw hard the taller you are. It's a big reason even if a kid is throwing 90+ if he's under 6 ft tall he won't get many looks. Scouts assume arm trouble is just a matter of time.I used to think that about Aroldis Chapman, but he’s still slinging that thing.
I have read Ted Williams book on hitting. He was FAR ahead of his time.
Really bad if its just an 18 to 20 year old kid who's still growing.Chapman is taller too. It takes less force tho throw hard the taller you are. It's a big reason even if a kid is throwing 90+ if he's under 6 ft tall he won't get many looks. Scouts assume arm trouble is just a matter of time.
Scientist have done studies on human cadavers. At 114 mph your shoulder rips out of the socket. At 104-105 consistently you start really testing what the human body is even capable of.
Hitting the ball into the gap and hitting ground balls is a lot different. It worked out well. Hit the ball into gaps instead of swinging for a home run all the time.
There’s a difference between swing “thoughts” and actual swing plane.I have read Ted Williams book on hitting. He was FAR ahead of his time.
It's funny man you have guys like don mattingly that refuse to accept they swung up. He will tell you no I swing down on the ball to create backspin and lift. Uhhhh watch the tape dude. No you didn't.
I'm not a doctor but pitch counts and everything don't seem to be working. I think arm injuries have more to do with max effort every pitch than pitch counts.Really bad if its just an 18 to 20 year old kid who's still growing.
