How the hell did your wife turn out so stable?

I mean she’s a freak in the sack, but otherwise..

Honest to god dude there's 5 kids from her mom total. Two half sisters two full brothers and my wife. Then a half sister her dad had before they got married. All 4 of the others from mom have some pretty serious issues. Most function ok but at the same time it's like wow. The daughter from dad is very stable.

Two things I think my wife got more of her dad than anyone and I think my family being so large and so close really helped her. I mean we started dating at 15 and I always brought her to every family function from the get go and I'm sure seeing something somewhat normal
And very stable helped at that age a lot. Considering that's around when her parents got divorced.

My wife couldn't believe the way my family was - that if anyone needed anything they just needed to ask for help and it would be sure, of course.

My wife couldn't believe the way my family was - that if anyone needed anything they just needed to ask for help and it would be sure, of course.

That mindset kind of blows my mind. My youngest brother and sister are only half siblings, but even typing that out was bizarre to me. I’d take a bullet for those two.

Plus it was actually kind of cool being so much older. You witnessed stuff that you wouldn’t have noticed if you were close in age. Plus they think I’m cool, which is just a total departure from the norm

My wife and I by far have the most to do with the dad's daughter. Her husband is very successful and I think most everyone else is jealous. Her 3 sisters all live in the Chicago area and we take a weeks vacation every January and go visit them all. Been doing that about every year since we got married. They've come down to visit us maybe twice lol

It's important to me for Ava to know those aunts and uncles even if they are a little nutty.

I totally understand this too. The only reason I stayed with my oldest daughter’s dad as long as I did, then went back twice, was because of his family. They are my second family. They are a lot more stable than my family was growing up. Hell, their parents have been married for 65 years. Lol.
