Seriously eventually I’m building a timber frame home on our property. No internet, cell phone blocker and only 1 TV in the family room with rabbit ears.
Plan on spending one weekend a month there with our family and will probably rent it out to people who want to get away from it all at other times.

Ok I’ve got to know who is being unreasonable here. My brother had his first kid last Wednesday. Wife was on call this past weekend so we couldn’t go.
I want to go down this weekend but she is pissed because she has a work Xmas party. It’s not even a full work party. It’s like 8 of them that have gotten together once before for this. They basically have dinner, do a gift exchange and get trashed.
I told frankly I think it’s absurd that she’s more worried about going to this party than to see our niece.

Xmas party is every year. If this is your brothers first kid it's the only time it happens.
But your wife is preggo so she not going to listen to reason... even less then women usually do.

Offered to go for a couple hours and then head down to my brothers afterwards but apparently asking to leave early is just absurd also.
