working hard and succeeding is a myth. part of it is luck like being born rich. america has some of the worst economic mobility in the world, so thats another myth. maybe you were once the best. you are living in the past. capitalism is not and never has been the best thing going because it centralizes power. so the people with all the power use it for thier gain at everyone expense.

Ok. Fair enough. So, communism(taking by gun and redistributing) is the answer?

Yep. Because until pretty recently, Democrats have been the go-to party for those who have identified as center-left. I'm big on the issues of healthcare, environmental protection and science in general.

But here's the thing: I condemn the looting, rioting and property destruction. Why? Because I'm a moderate. The only people who won't condemn them are hard leftists who are too wrapped up in their wild ideology to see and acknowledge that looting, rioting and property destruction are wrong.

the problem is capitalism has alot in common with slavery and feudalism and even the state communism you decry which is it give all the power to a few people and they enrich themselves. power corrupts. and the longer you are in power the longer it corrupts you likely.

why do you think america got the new deal? because of communists and socialists putting pressure and fear into the govt. the govt did that huge reform for workers only because of that. so after the new deal in the 1950s you had a war on the working class with TAFT hartley and anti communist crusades.

Indeed. I'm a multiple gun owner who believes in equality of opportunity rather than equality of outcome. I think capitalism is still the best way to lift the most people out of poverty. And that strong border protections are a must for any sovereign nation that wants to ensure its current social programs remain as sustainable as possible over the long term.

All of these things used to be OK for a Democratic voter in the US to believe in. No longer. I claim these values in 2020 and @It will be fine tells me I might as well vote for Trump. The Democratic Party I have indeed strongly supported and gone door to door for in the past and voted for in every single election over the past few decades is not the Democratic Party of today.

For this reason, I think the Democrats are going to have a lot of problems retaining moderate voters in the 2020 election. If the Republicans were running Tim Scott or Nikki Haley instead of a bloviating for President I'd be absolutely sure of it.

I'm not a died hard Trump lover. I also think he has a couple of screws loose but I will probably vote for him again because the other side has a TOTAL nut case as a candidate. It really don't matter in the long run because neither party will ever get along with the other party on anything because that is just the way big government runs now days. I support policies that I think will benefit me personally. I've voted democrat, republican, and 3rd party. I feel like I'm pretty moderate, the only folks who have ever accused me of being an extremist seem like certifiable wackadoos which I'll take as a good sign. I will vote democrat this election strictly on the basis of health care policy.

the whole "govt is not hte answer" was just propaganda anyways. it was an oversimplification of the problems like all propaganda. whether something should be run by the govt or by the private sector is on a case by case basis.
