I think capitalism is still the best way to lift the most people out of poverty. And that strong border protections are a must for any sovereign nation that wants to ensure its current social programs remain as sustainable as possible over the long term.
All of these things used to be OK for a Democratic voter in the US to believe in. No longer. I claim these values in 2020 and @It will be fine tells me I might as well vote for Trump. The Democratic Party I have indeed strongly supported and gone door to door for in the past and voted for in every single election over the past few decades is not the Democratic Party of today.
For this reason, I think the Democrats are going to have a lot of problems retaining moderate voters in the 2020 election. If the Republicans were running Tim Scott or Nikki Haley instead of a bloviatingfor President I'd be absolutely sure of it.
