Commonalities in how FedEx handles themselves:

- "FedEx attorneys maintained that the courier delivery service company committed no wrongdoing..."
-----(never showing accountability)

- "...Carter lost his job because he had three disciplinary write-ups..."
-------(always shift the blame to the other party and create a story to support your actions)

- "He claimed he was also was told to return within 90 days or lose his management position."
------ (use of bully and threatening tactics)

- "instead of accommodating him because of his limitations, his workload was actually increased compared to others"
------(create an unbearable situation to force you out)

- "He filed an internal complaint alleging discrimination, harassment and retaliation and was fired eight months later"
------(if you don't bow you will be beheaded)

- "FedEx never interviewed Carter about his internal grievance"
------(your concerns will fall on deaf ears, to maintain order)

Well there goes our Raise!

Most likely they will use the TNT merger problems as an excuse to not give a raise this year. Moreover, a ten step (ten year at best) pay progression to top out is shameful. I don't know of too many other companies that brag about a ten year (at best, if nothing goes wrong) top out plan.

Nine years.

It doesn't matter if it's 9 years or 10 years or 20 years or whatever what does matter is that there are no covenants that legally binds X to any stated pay progression scale they may offer. Outside of a NLRB complaint which is a complete waste of time and could prove more costly than it's worth an Express quoted pay scale is no more binding than a Ground contract and we've been over how completely nonbinding one of those is.

You know as well as I do that they call it “steps” for a reason: so they’re not stuck to any particular timeline.
Have they stuck to it so far? Truth is that if they stick to it for the next 15 years there will be those every year who will cast doubt on the likelihood of that year's raise. I would say unless the economy goes into a bad recession it's likely they will stick to this new plan. Because what they were doing before was causing unacceptable turnover. It's also likely that unless they're having a stellar year topped out couriers won't receive a bonus. And it's likely as cost of living increases, competition increases wages, etc FedEx from time to time, maybe every 5 years or so, may adjust steps up to stay competitive. But to suggest every year before raises take place that this is the year they're going to screw us is nonsensical. They've pretty much got Ground infrastructure in place. All those years they were taking from Express to accomplish that are over. This is the new normal.

If a company can keep pace with inflation in terms of raises that should be the bare minimum. If they go back on what they preach you have to ask yourself, does this company have any integrity?

They've pretty much got Ground infrastructure in place
As you say that Van, now they have to go back and revamp infrastructure to accommodate the over-dimensional, bulk business they are aggressively jacking off to on the Ground side

So far, they have a lousy track record of abiding to what they profess.

And

That was before they had 'bots to replace couriers.

But Ground is profitable enough to handle their own expenditures now.
