First PMI last night!

Ford supplies UPS trucks now? Since when? My guess is if the mechanic swapped out newer tires for new ones I would check his personal vehicles and see if anything he owns has the same tire size on it. :-) Its an old mechanics trick.
Ford made some trucks a long time ago. I remember a few P-600's

All we had were Fords back when I first started. Everything from a P-100 Econoline up to P-600's. They all had the same engine--a Ford 6 cylinder 300CI. I never realized UPS still has chassis made by Ford.

A lot of the P-400's were Fords. Some were Internationals too.

Some of the guys drove Fords with the 300 Six in it as a personal vehicle. Rumor had it that the engine parts were reddily accessible'. :-)

This guy gets 6 brand new tires, I put a DIAD in the cradle, cant charge it, cant get nav unless I wedge a crushed empty roll of tape between the DIAD and the back of the cradle, write it up in the dvir, mechanic says, "Could not replicate problem". Of course you couldnt replicate the problem, YOU DONT HAVE A DIAD! lol Everytime Ive written up a cradle replacement, he either says that or he says, "Try a different DIAD, truck safe to operate" lol Its like whats the point in even writing it up? Its not like youre rebuilding the transmission. Its 2 screws (4 at best) and youre done. ffs

I dont believe our center has a single truck that doesnt have something that needs to be written up. Its just that no one does because the mechanics rarely address them

I have a brand new 2019 Ford P1000. It got its first PMI last night and I got it back this morning and I just had to laugh.

12,300 miles on the odometer and it came back this morning with six brand new tires on it.

I pre-trip the vehicle every morning religiously. There wasn't a damn thing wrong with the old tires. The tread was good, wear was even, no cuts, no cupping, no bulges, etc.

Can someone please explain to me why the company would (presumably) spend upwards of $1500 to needlessly replace something like that?

For a company that routinely cries poverty, this sure is puzzling.

Judge me.

Just curious, what kind of motor is in it? And, how do you like the truck?

Deplorable.

Triton V10 I believe. Huge gas guzzler. I get maybe only 235 miles to the tank which is somewhere between 34 and 36 gallons.

Its nice. Pretty low step, has plenty of oomph for pulling out onto highways, rides quiet.
