We have Jenn-aire stovetop with the downdraft ... really high quality but you pay for it.
It's something we use (OK, she does) everyday.
A grill I use maybe twice a year so I use a small Weber that I sit on top of my big grill which I have not used in 4 or 5 years.

I've know a guy who has probably a dozen of those little Webers. He worked for the local Parks Department and would find them in the city parks all the time. He said more than likely the people got drunk or stoned and forgot to take them with when they left. He has all kinds of bag chairs that were left behind.

I'm thinking about searching around for a good cast-iron hibachi just for steaks and chops.

I got a pair of these for Father's Day a couple years ago

They are heavy cast iron
Set them on top of your grill grates while it is heating up

They will sear a steak like nothing I've ever seen
