Pees in the brown Koolaid
I think we liberals need to man-up and start buying more guns, so we can protect ourselves from Republicans.
Our country is now divided like never before, under a President who has legitimized hate, violence and discrimination.

This is admittedly a generalization and there are certainly exceptions, but for the most part on one side we have bikers, cops and rural gun owners. On the other side, we have liberal/progressive city dwellers and most women.

If things go south, it could be a rather one-sided battle.

I think you're wrong on the "women" part of your comment...

Boston Is a Shooters’ Paradise

Boston Is a Shooters’ Paradise
More than 96 percent of gunmen involved in non-fatal shootings are never arrested in Boston.

During a six-month investigation, Boston obtained police records through a public information request and examined 618 shootings over 994 days, from the start of 2014 through September 20, 2016. The results were staggering: During that time frame, Boston police had arrested fewer than 4 percent of gunmen involved in non-fatal shootings.

Not that the BPD is doing such a great job of locking up murderers, either: During the same time period, police made arrests in barely 15 percent of fatal shootings. Since only about one in seven shooting victims dies in Boston, that brings the total arrest rate for shootings over the past two and a half years to almost 6 percent.

Decades After Firearm Confiscation, Australia Announces New Amnesty Program

In a tacit admission that criminals and scofflaws have had little trouble circumventing Australia’s National Firearms Agreement (NFA) and the government’s confiscation effort, Australian officials have set a date for another firearms amnesty program. The program is set to begin in July and last for three months. Despite offering no compensation for surrendered firearms, government officials hope that the plan will net 260,000 of an estimated 600,000 illegally possessed guns.

In Chicago going to funerals can get you killed .

Chicago Funerals Face Threats Of Gang Violence

CBS 2’s Jim Williams reports that some community leaders are calling for state lawmakers to crack down on this.

While June Williams has offered comfort to the grieving at her funeral home for decades, it still didn’t prepare for her some of the things she would witness.

“A gentleman went up to see his brother, who had been killed, and I’m standing at the casket, so of course, I’m thinking, ‘how touching — he’s grieving over his brother.’ And another walked up, put his arm around him and he stabbed him,” Williams said.

“I have experienced going to funeral homes and churches where weapons are laid up under the seats,” crisis responder Andrew Holmes said.

In today’s current state, funeral directors have to avoid wearing certain colors and to look for the safest routes to cemeteries.

Some funeral directors have not only hired security, but also assigned police officers to stand outside funeral homes or churches if there is a potential for violence.

HOLY smileT! A Warehouse Containing ALL THE AMMO IN UKRAINE Just Exploded, And The Video Is Insane [WATCH]

For some reason, practically all of the ammunition in Ukraine used to be stored in one place.

I say “used to,” because on Thursday, the massive dump at the Balakliya military installation, you know, exploded.

Everyone living within a 10 kilometer radius of the blast — which Ukrainian authorities suspect was triggered by a drone dropping a bomb on the base!!! — was forced to evacuate.

Boy suspended for taking shell casing to preschool, mom's Facebook post goes viral

An Illinois mom behind a viral Facebook post spoke to Fox 2/News 11 Wednesday.

Her son, Hunter, 4, has been suspended from his preschool for bringing a shell casing from a fired bullet to school.

He’d been at the preschool for about a year, she said, and now was in tears.

Neither she nor Hunter's dad knew it, but he found something he thought was pretty neat and he took it to school Tuesday to show his friends

“I was met with a stone-faced teacher who said that my son had a shotgun bullet. I was horrified thinking, ‘where could he have gotten this?’” Jackson said, recalling when she picked up Hunter from the preschool in Troy, IL, Tuesday.

“This is a spent .22 caliber bullet casing,” Kristy Jackson said, holding the object that got Hunter into so much trouble.

Update to the Seattle ammo tax .

In July 2015, Seattle City Council President Tim Burgess proposed legislation he dubbed a “Gun Violence Tax,” contending that “It’s time for the gun industry to help defray” the cost of criminal violence perpetrated with guns. Burgess’s proposal was unanimously passed by the city council on August 10, 2015. The legislation imposed a $25 tax on firearm sales, a $.02 per round tax on .22 and smaller caliber ammunition, and a $.05 per round tax on ammunition greater than .22 caliber. The revenue was intended to be used to fund anti-gun research at the Harborview Medical Center.

In advocating for the tax, Burgess and other supporters of the legislation repeatedly cited figures from the City Budget Office that claimed the tax would raise between $300,000 and $500,000 a year. In an email to the Times this week, Burgess confessed, “During its first year, the firearms and ammunition tax payments received by the City were less than $200,000.” It is not clear how much less than $200,000 the city collected.

I have a feeling a lot of gun shops moved to just outside city limits.
