If you are reading Section B ("On the Package) of the checklist and see "UN or ID number, preceded by the prefix," and think it needs interpretation, then you've got big problems.
That's how difficult the checklist is.
Wow, you are as disconnected as it gets, you realize that we check more than section B, I won't go into details because it might confuse you,
but every section must be checked, we check the declaration, we check that the UN matches the packaging, and TRAINING. You have to know HOW
to check, and what to check.
So given we are expected to process DG in a timely(ie timed per package) manner, it's imperative that we be trained appropriately so that FedEx is not liable. THIS IS WHY FEDEX TRAINING FOR DG IS SO EXTENSIVE!
Sure go ahead tell some idiot to do DG, and you'll get idiots work. Go ahead DANO audit just the section B... when a plane goes down, or a fire starts because items weren't checked properly, I'll applaud your ability to cut corners at the cost of company assets, and lives.
MOST if not ALL in DG positions take the responsibility seriously, unfortunately FEDEX doesn't pay any extra for these folks.
Like I said, it's not rocket science but it requires training that others don't want to take on.
And most regular CRRs have long forgotten their role in DG acceptance, as is evident by the number of DG bumps that could be prevented
at the PUP location.
DANO (ANDY) please hop on a flight, I'll pray for you!
