Are cover drivers used across the whole nation
I believe so but do you mean part time?
Here our cover drivers are full time drivers accruing full time pensions. I've been a cover driver almost my entire 15 years career so far.
Yes part time
The answer is no then for here.
We have cover drivers and work / pay is just like a 22.4 . Southern Cali western conference
Yeah I've heard a lot of guys compare the two.
But those guys don't get ft pension accrual and contributions?
maybe FT pension and contribution are the trade off because ups is going to grind these guys hard . Maybe the union ask for that to let them do it across the nation
If you count my center mgr and my road sups yes we have those! Seriously.
In 688 we have full-time "x-men". Nobody's part-time that delivers all service levels.
We have them...they start and stay at 85% of full time top out pay.
We have full time cover drivers, they don’t have a bid route, they still make the same thing as a full time driver (full time driver defined as a driver with a bid route) and are still guaranteed 8hrs a day.
Here cover drivers are called split drivers. Essentially drivers that don’t have a bid route. Everything else is the same. Same pay structure. Same guarantee of hours. Only difference is they cover different routes from day to day.
And they will now become 22•4
Wrong. They will become RPCDs. Many have higher seniority than those drivers with routes.
Uhhh no. They aren’t second class drivers in any sense. Some have more seniority than bid drivers. Everything in the 177 is seniority.
To replace the future guys coming in
No, those jobs will be red-circled. If you have 50 drivers and only 45 routes. You still have 50 drivers.
There will be no split drivers in this next contact
Separate names with a comma.
